Hi all
This question has been posted on a sperate forum, however further thought suggests this might be a more appropriate place for it.
I've recently replaced the pads and discs on a friend's R-plate 1.4 Clio Sport. Previously there was a periodic squeak coming from the brakes and my friend reported juddering through the brake pedal. We suspected a warped disc or something similar, however even with new components the squeak remains (although it is less pronounced and the juddering appears to have been addressed).
Does anyone have any ideas what the squeak could be? There were no anti-squeal shims in the brake pad box or indeed on the old pads, do the wire springs on the top of the pad serve this purpose, or have we missed something out? Also, the wheel bearing was replaced by a garage, could this be the cause/a contributory factor? Could the hub be incorrectly aligned, with a resultant high-point on the disc as it rotates?
All advice gratefully received
Matt
