My n reg 2.1 diesel starts but cuts out after a couple of minutes.This happens 4-5 times then it is ok.It happens weather i use the heater plugs or not,on both hot and cold days.A new fuel filter has been fitted.Help me please!!!

Sounds like fuel stavation, either an air lock or an air leak in a fuel pipe somewhere. Has it had a decent run since the new filter was fitted?

No,it is actually my sons car.It is just used around the doors.He is selling it as he has bought a newer car but obviously need this repaired before he does that.(along with the n/s headlight/indicator he has just broken!!)

It has npt had a long run since fitting.The problem was there before the fitting of the filter.

Have a hard look for any possibillity of an air leak into the filter housing. There may be a white plastic water sensor mounted somewhere on the back. I have had one that leaked - but only under suction. Also check the rubber priming bulb for perishing [if fitted - can't remember.]
