Two years ago I filled up with Halfords deluxe anti-freeze. Which, I noted, was a Trigard formulation.
Yesterday I was in the store, and I picked up a container which looked similar; but on reading the label it is now an advanced protection, but otherwise conventional, ethylene glycol based coolant. It?s recommended by Merc and Saab, so it?s obviously good stuff, but I?m wondering if these or other mfrs would consider that Trigard would give even better protection, and what is the difference between these formulations anyway?

What was the formula for Trigard,I was under the impression that it no to different conventional antifreeze and also cannot be made into Austrian wine

It must be the stuff that goes into the pear schnappes then.

Does anyone know what the new antifreeze sold by the VW group over the past couple of years is? I found this was in my Audi and apparently it isn't compatible with ethylene glycol. The Audi people told me it doesn't need changing every few years.
The stuff in the Audi is a blue colour, but I gather VW now have yet another, pink antifreeze that isn't to be mixed with their blue liquid, let alone ethylene glycol.
Can these fluids really be left in the car permanently, and what are they?

Another point depending on where you live the strength or dilution must change in east germany /poland we use protection down to -40c

Trigard was mpg, v/s meg for conventional anit-freeze. But there is now some new stuff which outperforms Trigard.
