I gave a driver (gender unseen) a nervous breakdown on Friday last. As I approached a three junction traffic roundabout I saw a very hesitant young learner trapped there. The traffic was building up behind him quite badly. So, I did my boy-scout thing and hesitated myself, blocking both of the other streams until his instructor got him moving. Time spent about 15 sec., much the same as missing a gear. As I?m sure Albert Einstein must have said, ?Time is a relative thing?. The driver of another car which had come up behind me, (I was way in front of my stream so he must have been travelling), played the Trumpet Voluntary. The learner got out, the traffic stream behind him moved up one, and possibly the guy / lady following me reached for their handbag to get out a Valium pill.
I?m not sure who was bad mannered, me for hesitating or he / she for tooting so vigorously.

lady following me reached for their handbag to get out a Valium pill - or handgun.
We live in strange times....

Strange times indeed when someone might imagine that was a reasonable possibility. How do you sleep?

Working within a deeply flawed CJS with deeply flawed individuals..........in my line of work you don't need to read newspapers to be a very worried man.

I sympathise then and my comments were a bit flippant. Mrs Nsar is a barrister specialising in crime and with the kids 10 and 7 now we have to take special care to keep her papers well out of sight.

I was going to say with shotgun under the pillow, that would have been flippant as well as uncomfortable.

"lady following me reached for their handbag to get out a Valium pill - or handgun."
