I hate to be the first one to ask this but have you checked the pads? If it's a metal on metal sound then they could be gone.
There's a chance they could be glazed too. A few hard applications of the brakes should sort that out.

Unlikely Adam,first thing to check is pad seats on the caliper, and then piston to pad ie are they dry and dust filled.
It was not mentioned how old or how many miles pads have done,so would assume they may need a strip down and lube with copperslip*but not in pad contact area with disc*

Sorry Steve.
Worked in my case!

Wotspur, well known problem with Scenics. Renault dealer give the usual excuse of non-asbestos pads blah blah.
My Scenic suffers from this but I find it helps to give the wheels and brakes a god blast with the pressure washer?
|
Common on the Megane as well, probably the same componentry. A quick blast with the power wash does the job, as Mr Bobby says. Some owners fit EBC Greenstuff pads which may help. I wouldn't bother with this expense, just give them a good clean.

{Wotspurs 'typo' on the incorrect spelling of brakes has been amended. It's one of my pet hates as well - DD}
Who put the brales in then ??

<< It's one of my pet hates as well - DD<<
Yours too?
Just one...quick question. What the hell are brales? ;-)
|
Ahhh you're too quick for me.

Come on guys, haven't any of you had "one of those days" where nothing goes right?
I've now done the edit properly. DD.
