Agree with the Trans Am idea. Although didn't Sally Fields drive it? Thus making it a girls car.
However, The Burtster is the manliest man ever.
Trans Am all the way.

Much as a love Supras its got to be the Capri.
Expensive now though as recognised as a classic.
|
Capri a classic? It was always hairdresserish. That coke-bottle derivatative of American tinware was out of date before it was sold to the gullible. Like the Viva of unhappy memory.

Capri Hairdressers car? in 3.0L & 2.8 never
stunorthants you mention Rover 3.5 Vitesse good but i always prefer the old P6 3.5 S a bit more classy
|
I like the P6 too, but it was bought by old men and Im not really looking to age myself too much - the car doesnt so much need to be classy, just a car designed along the lines of a hammer - blunt, but does its job with sheer brute force :)
If I could have anything id have an american muscle car, but they are too pricey for me.
I like the Capri, but its a little common isnt it?
Im leaning towards the Celica Supra as I like the shape of the early cars and the 2.8 should be able to do some miles.
I think both the Capri and the Vitesse are attracting over-the-odds prices as they get classic status and the BMW is going that way too.
I should explain why I want a mans car - my mum drives a Hyundai Coupe 2.7 V6 - it should be a blokey car because it looks good and drives really nice, but my mum drives one for goodness sake - I want a car my mum will NEVER want drive. Is that so much to ask?

Nortones you are a peasant.
The Capri(1) was the 70's equivalent of the cave mans club.

What's your budget? Have a look at the Rover SD1 club www.roversd1club.net They have a cars for sale section. Last year I bought an SD1 with a 4.6, manual box, 4 barrel carb etc etc yet looks standard and can highly recommend them. Big smiles every time I fire it up. Just watch out for the usual rust! Autos are cheapest, vitesse twin plenum the dearest. It isn't too difficult to fit a manual box to an auto car (so I'm told) so that could be the cheapest way to go.

TVM: you are correct! In the 70's though, it was still Triumph Bonneville territory for the truly hirsute. Cars: too slow, too comfortable for a true caveman.....
