Not wishing to have another new engine in my Espace 2.2 DCI, ever, What is the suggested recommendation of running in, what max speed and to how many miles.

many thanks for HJ FAQ'S, great call.
Also could the cat have been damaged by the erg valve blocked open causing oil clogging and will having a new engine fitted help to corect a possible fault or will it have to eventually be replaced??

I doubt bad running-in caused the expiry of your 2.2 engine.

Best thing for any engine running in is regular changes of quality oil and filters.

Revs dont necessarily hurt the engine, its labouring it that does the damage.

Apologies if I have mis-understood but I thought it was best NOT to change oil and filters during the running in period (1st 12 months).
Doing so will prevent the moving parts bedding in correctly.

Also you should vary your engine speed regularly.
