Hi there can anyone tell me if I can run a 1990 Peugeot 205 1.9GTi (pre-cat model) on unleaded fuel without any adjustments or loss of performance. I have been told that normal 95RON unleaded would be ok but local peugeot dealer said I could not. Someone else has also now said that super unleaded 98RON would be fine - I now have no idea! Please help!

My daughter's K-reg, non-catted 309GTI runs plenty fast on the Texaco and Esso unleaded I suspect usually goes in because they are the brands on her journey to and from work. When I borrow it I just put in normal unleaded too and my foot is heavier than hers and I get a nice smile on my face.

...assuming it is the common or garden 8-valve engine and not a 16-valve 160 bhp Gutmann version or MI-16 conversion. Would be thinking Optimax for those.
