Having now had our 54 reg Scenic 1.9 DCi Priv for over a year now, I thought I would feedback on it.

Good Points:

Great 120bhp diesel engine, pulls well - seems to be even better with a full load!

Loads of storage compartments, 11 in total!

Interior very adaptable, nice driving position.

Nice spread of ratios on 6 speed box.

Well laid out dash.

Bad points:

Both rear sunblinds have snapped.

Rubberised coating rubbed off interior door grabs.

Half leather starting to wear.

Gear change clunky.

Rear Bumper easily scratched loading & unloading boot.

Overall, I like the car and it drives very well, but the build quality and some of the materials are a little inferior. Any comments from fellow Scenic owners?

Grand Scenic 1.9 DCI 210 Dynamique

Good

Reliable so far (14 months and 14000 miles, although the clutch sensor was replaced under warranty)
More personality than a Zafira, Touran, Corrola Verso
Very refined diesel
Feels car like, not van like
You can squeeze adults into the rear seats for short journeys
Trim is high quality (Dark Dynamique maybe more robust than Privilege here)and better by far than a VW Touran

The Bad

Rear blind was snapped by my 2 year old daughter in the first month
Fuel economy never seems to get much above 36-37mpg via the trip computer

I would have another, except our unmade access track probbaly mandates a 4x4 for its replacement.

Thats odd, ours returns 45 mpg on a daily 30 miles urban commute and about 48/9 on motorway driving. Maybe the extra weight of the 'Grand' is detrimental to economy?

As a fellow Scenic owner I have similar characteristics with mine. However re your gear change clunky, mine was like this going from first to second and booked it in under warranty and got a gear linkage replaced which made a big difference?

Thanks for that, it's going in for warranty work soon, the list is getting longer!

Before you take it in, try other things as well
- eg. do all 4 door locks lock the car ( I presume you have keyless entry) I got 2 of mine replaced
- there is currently an unpublicised recall on rear seat belts as well.

Re fuel consumption, I have the Scenic 120dci and struggle to get any more than 43mpg from a tank.

Xileno, interesting info there re Scenic recall. One of the downsides of my Scenic is when you press the brake pedal , it travels a lot before the brakes actually bite, which can result in sudden and jerky braking.

This is more noticeable now I have the Fabia whose brakes react instantly. Wonder if the recall would have anything to do with this?
Renault Scenic Feedback - Xileno {P}
No I think it's to do with the pedal pin.
