Am surprised not to see any comments re Fenton Breslers article in Saturdays Telegraph in which he states under Headlights and Front Foglights and I quote, these must be used when visibility is less than 100metres whatever time day or night and Always during the hours of darkness I foresee this latter misinformation on the use of Front Foglights leading to even more idiots using them illegally in clear conditions.

Fair comment, did not spot the unfortunate wording. Wonder if this was a mistake by Fenton or the sub editors. My guess would the latter, we've seen the butchery performed on HJ's efforts before.

He does cover the critical bit though,

"Regulation 27 of the 1989 Regulations says that headlights and front foglights must not be used to cause undue dazzle or discomfort to other road users."

well spotted that man, or should it be well fogged? ;-)
Re: well spotted - Honest John
It's obviously a mistake. Lots of Telegraph readers have also been e-mailing me about it and writing anguished letters.

Re: well spotted - mike harvey
I wondered what visibility of 100 metres means. Is it that you can just distinguish a rear fog lamp through the gloom, or see clearly so you could distinguish the make of car, for example. There must be a legal definition.
