51 reg silver bog standard focus in front of me today. The driver braked, and I found myself staring at a 3rd brake light that had some kind of stenciling over it such that the red light now spelled "Focus". It was hard to make out, thus rendering the 3rd brake light somewhat useless in terms of additional warning of stopping.

A very popular mod on the hatchback and estate Focuses. Looks ridiculous but as long as the other brake lights work!

I reckon six laser pens in a row would make a good rear stoplight.

I saw a car the other night which had only one high level brake light the full width of the window and no other brake lights. I don't know what it was because it was dark. It was a big mpv or 4x4. I would imagine it was an afermarket mod rather that original spec but it looked pretty new. Leagal?

Range Rover? Would have thought it unlikely that both rear lights had failed though, the thing's festooned with bulb warnings.

I thought the newer Range Rover rear lights were LEDs instead of bulbs?

I trust you're not serious about that, and are aware of the potential hazard to the eyesight of following motorists.

No, of course I'm not serious!

Bentley continental GT has the high level brake lights across the whole rear screen.
