I have a 2000 Audi A4 TDI. Recently (unexplainably) the raido volume has become barely audible. The reception is good but the max volume is very low. I have been thru the manual and tried all the obvious stuff!! Any ideas??

I would have thought yours is a bit new, but there is a notorious problem with the volume controls on audi concert radios.
The problem is that every change in volume is written to a bit of eeprom in the cpu of the radio, and the eeprom is only suitable for x,000 writes, after that it starts forgetting the volume. typical symptoms are radio being very quiet or very loud, and small adjustments on the volume dial causing big alterations in actual volume. you can do a temporary resurect by heating the radio apparently.
If that is the issue then the solution is either £100 replacing internal components or a new radio.
