Hi,
After suffering a completely flat battery (I left an interior light on while off on holiday for a week) my 1996 non turbo 1.8 petrol Audi A4 has started hunting when the engine is slowed to tickover. The engine settles to a smooth idle after about 5 seconds.
Anyone got any ideas?? I wonder if the ECU was affected by the dead flat battery or whether it could be just the throttle body that needs cleaning.
Cheers,
Chris

Since none of the experts seem to have picked up on this, I'll offer what little help I can! My 2.4 A4 began hunting at idle and blowing fuse 34. Turns out it was one of the camshaft positioning devices which was shorted and blowing the fuse. Trouble is, that blown fuse also switched off the lambda sensors leaving the engine management system guessing about the mixture - hence the hunting.
Hopefully it isn't that on yours (cos it's expensive to fix if it's more than just the fuse), but checking the fuses for anything blown might at least eliminate it from the list of possible.
