Car Insurance - Ashley
Has anyone any suggestions where to go for the best quote for car insurance for a young female driver.
Re: Car Insurance - Ashley
Try Tesco, they seem to be a front-runner in the cheap insurance area. Most of the apprentices in work are with them. Also, try Endsleigh as they specialise with students and young drivers.

Ash.

My old flatmate was with Diamond ("We only insure females"- but do let you add a bloke on as a second driver). They were cheap, and offered a courtesy car when her car was in for a respray after it was vandalised.

Thanks

Often debated here, I believe, with some very good advice that can save you pounds.

Try 'What Car' Insurance via their magazine articles, it worked very well for me. After that try using a good independant broker and NOT the Yellow Pages. Be specific about what you want and give them a couple of days to get back to you.

Good Luck.

Might be worth looking at www.find.co.uk - this lists and links to most of the companies with on-line quote sites. Tesco (Direct Line), Eagle Star and www.cis.co.uk (co-op) can all be good for young drivers but it depends on many factors. Suggest you try a few and you'll soon get an idea of the cost.
Re: Car Insurance - mark
TESCO or EGG (both via the web) will give you the best quote or Hastings (phone)

part of my long campaign against tesco's,

YOU DONT GET A COURTESY CAR, EVEN IF ITS NOT YOUR FAULT

they don't tell you, but thier argumnet is that they don't say that they do.

check this out before taking out insurance.

just a little reminder people

Thanks for the info above. I came on the site to post a question and it looks like it has been answered.

I phoned Tesco and they have halved the quote given by our current insurers.

Our situation is that we have an au pair to help look after the kids. They tend to stay for a year only, but the current one left after 6 months and we are looking at an 18 year old French girl as a replacement. The car that they will drive is a '94 Micra 1.0.

The nightmare starts as they are all young drivers, have never driven in the country and most insurers won't look at us. It looks like we're 'fronting' as the car is registered in my name and would be insured as me as the main driver with the au pair as a named driver.

Has anyone else out there tried to insure a car for an au pair and who can they recommend?
