Watchdog & XC90 fires - Falkirk Bairn
Watchdog covered 4 x Volvo XC 90s (diesel) that had gone on fire. The owners's complaints centred around:

The fact that the cars were 100% destroyed and could have endangered life.

The fact that Volvo UK were not interested in investigating the cause with a view to possibly preventing further fires.

The first XC 90 (diesel)was 5 days old when fire started in the boot area before consuming the whole car. The owner's dogs were a bit traumatised.

Good job watchdog have not heard about VW 2.0TDI Tourans combusting then, I have seen photos of at least 10.

They make the volvos look like damp squib.

Not sure what is more surprising, the number of fires or that anyone should run an organisation called Club Touran!

Worrying though, why is it only 2.0TDi's, if engine specific I wonder why no other 2.0TDi car effected, if Touran specific then why not the 1.9? I.e. it cannot be too hard to get to the bottm of this.

There was a recall on all Passats, Audi A3/A4/A6 and probably other VaG cars, with either engine for Tandem Fuel Pump Securing bolt inspection, as faulty and broken bolts in this area could conceivably cause a fire, so I would guess this is the same for the Touran which uses the same engine options.
