We have the same problem with both our 2003 Mondeo Ghia Estates TDCI 130 ps Diesel 6 speed.When parked over night ( with out hand brake on)when engaging reverse to take cars from garage we hear a very nasty graunching noise from the front , seems to be with the drive linkage , this does not happen again until the next day !! any advice please ?

Why without hand brake on? All I have ever noticed is the rear pads sticking to the discs after heavy rain or having washed the car the day before, causes a slight clonk as you reverse.

Is it possible to reverse the car into the garage, rather than driving in, to see if the same noise is present in the morning when you drive it out of the garage in first gear?
