... the Renault 11 and Citroën 2CV.

I'm really surprised no one has posted this yet.
Ford have apparently paid £14m (!) for prodcut placement of the Mondeo in the next Bond film, although there will also be Aston Martins featured.
"The Mondeo being used for chase scenes in the Bahamas is a souped-up 140mph model [so at least it's not a TDCi then.]
Craig, 38 yesterday, drives only automatics ? so the car had to be modified." I wonder if that's true (as opposed to them just starting with an auto) and if so (presuming they used an ST) did they put an autobox in one or transplant the ST bodykit and interior to an existing automatic.

It's not surprising - it's quite common for all the cars in a film to be from the same group. When Bond drove BMW's the baddies were often to be found driving Range Rovers and when he switched back to Astons suddenly everyone else had a Ford, Jaguar or Volvo....or a Range Rover again.
I suspect the deal covered a whole range of Ford Group cars.

Not really so strange, afterall if I told you why I really drive a Mondeo I would have to kill you ............
......... and one of rockets behind the front number plate would be just the job!

Just to rearrange that slightly but has the same meaning?
Every time you say you drive a Mondeo I want to slash my wrists?
(with a vbg :) of course)

My Mondeo TDCi will do about 140mph, so it could well be a diesel.

What a wuss!... my illusions are shattered now..

I suspect this will be our first preview of 'der nue shape'..

You mean you didn't see him when he was brought up the Thames by the Marines - he looked terrified!

Some real life then: after all the real spooks drive Mondeo's.
|
Have a look at this, might be of interest...Although it does say they are NOT MOD vehicles.

But MI6 and MI5 arn't part of the MOD are they? Foreign and home offices, respectively if 'Spooks' is anything to go by.
|
But why spend 40K on a mondeo when you could have an armoured Saxon and a landrover gun platform for less than half the amount?

perhaps cos a Mondeo is just slightly less conspicuous?

but not as much fun!

If it's the foreign office we're talking about, lack of glamour is only to be expected.
Some time in the early eighties I watched the Foreign Secretary Francis Pym, a small man, and the French Foreign Minister who was almost as diminutive, tearing themselves away from a scrum of hacks in Horse Guards Parade and escaping with three heavies in... a (new, admittedly) brown Cortina!
