What is life like with your car? Let us know and win £500 in John Lewis vouchers | No thanks

I am setting up in business and want to keep initial start up cost low including the purchase of a couple of cars. They need to be decent- possibly an x type jag. Can someone recommend a vehicle that would match the bill, so if i put cheap private plates on it would be difficult to determine the age (ie a vehicle that has changed v little since 2002).
hope this makes sence and i would appreciate any advice
thanks

How's about a SAAB anything, with loads of miles?
or an S60? S40?

All can be had cheaply, but maintain a certain level of image.

Or would your company image be served by some 4x4 type of thingy, like a Freeloader?

I suspect if he's thinking about the X Type, the Freelander is probably not suited in terms of image.

I suspect Duncan's business is involved in the high hourly rate professional area.

Jags in general don't hold their value too well, so a couple of 3 year olds probably makes good business sense.

Other vehicles are:

Saab
Volvo
Range Rover - v new shape with the fins
BMW 5 or 7 series, though they do hold their value better
Audi A6
Merc.

The other thing to consider is how a significant model upgrade, suddenly ageing your motors, would affect your business profile, and what you would then do about it.

I am a small builder, that is to say I focus on the smaller jobs, not extensions etc. My van is a 54 reg Nissan Primastar which looks clean, efficient and gives the right image of professionalism and reiability that clients need to see. My van breaking down is not an excuse I can use lightly!

If the manufacturers suddenly launch a new model, I won't be compelled to go out and buy it and trade the old one it. I'll just continue to keep it clean and tidy.

Surely an estate car would be better for that sort of thing?
