Evening chaps,
I have an Audi A6 2.5 TDi - 1999/S reg with 126,000 with Audi FSH
When the car gets warm t starts to blow out blue smoke - as though it's burning oil !
There is no loss of power at all.
When I open the oil filler cap it releases lots of pressure.
I have taken out the dip stick (whilst the car is running) but there is no back pressure from the dip stick hole.
Does anyone have any ideas - or a decent Audi specialist within he Nort West ?

First place to look valve seals.

Releases lots of pressure. I don't like that. Does the smoke stop after you remove the cap. If you put a latex glove ( I assume you use those ) over the filler does it inflate the glove like a balloon. Check all breather pipes, oil traps and the like. Regards Peter

Peter,
Yes it would inflate a rubber glove.
The smoke does stop ifyou leave the filler cap un-sealed
Thanx,
Sean
P.S. - I don't like it either !

And,
Is checking the valve seals a head off job ? - or can it be done by removing thr rocker covers ?
Thanx,
Sean

Simplest place to look is the breather pipes as stated above.
If it's not that, don't you need to do a compression check to see if it's the rings or the valve seats which are failing? I've never done one on a diesel!

Assumming all breather pipes anr clean then it appears you have excessive blow by the rings and are pushing diesel and fumes into the sump thus pressurising the system and either forcing excess vapour into the induction end ot blowing oil up past the oil control rings. 126k on this engine is no big deal so either something has let go or it has not been serviced or has but with cheap oil. Regards Peter
