Can cruise control be retropectively fitted and adopted by the ECU to a 2002 VW Passat. Who and at what sort of cost. It was about £185 as a factory fit. Regards Peter

Peter,

Is the Passat a diesel?

Not sure if this helps or not:-

Will JBS do this for a Passat diesel as well?

BTW will they do routine servicing? Their Fascia seems to imply they are more of a customising/tuning shop? Never open at times when I pass.

Lving in Scotland and away from any city cruise contol is quite useable, helps avoid tipping over the speed limit when the cameras are out and inproved feul consumption. Regards Peter

I live out in the sticks in Scotland; as a wee experiment Peter, next time you're driving see just how long you can keep at exactly the same speed without having to lift off at all and then try justifying the expense of adding cruise control. Unless most (or all) your driving is long (M74/M8/A9) distances at night with little or no traffic I fail to see how it can be justified.

As another resident of God's own country, Scotland, I would echo Peter's words about Cruise Control.

It's great and takes away the worry of inadvertently going much over the speed limit of 50 / 60 / 70mph or should that be 80 / 100 / 130 KPH after the talk of metrication.

Admittedly when roads are busy it is a waste of time.

Yes, any VAG car apparently. I'm waiting for a price for my Fabia - they need to know your car and model year.

>>BTW will they do routine servicing?
Yes mine is in for the 10K service next month - £119 inc VW factory fill PD oil (Fuchs Titan I think), inspection and VAG-COM check.

Yes it can, my dad wanted to do this to his 2003 Passat.
Basically I did some investigation on Vagparts, and the bits needed, ie the new Stalk with the right switches, and the wiring fittings was about £60. However, you have to pay the dealer 1/2 hr labour to enable the new parts on the ECU software.

Or perhaps find someone with vag-com ?
