Is there anybody out there able to help my battery ran flat at the weekend and now my radio just comes up safe , ive phoned a local main dealer and they want £19 +vat just to send a fax off does anyone know a cheaper way of getting it to work

A Vauxhall comes with a 'Car Pass' which has all the codes including the ECU code (which is needed for new keys) and the radio code. Very useful, but often lost when cars change hands. Check if you have this in the car documents. You can get replacements from Vx. Last time I got a 'Pass Card' it cost IIRC £10. Came through in a couple of days, so £19 for a quick fix, and maybe just a radio code, sounds expensive. Worth getting a replacement Car Pass if you don't have it. Note that the code you'll get from Vauxhall will only work if it's the radio that came with the car. Otherwise look in Autotrader etc for radio recoders, but they won't do it for free.

Hi there,
You could try Google on the net for car radio decoders. I have used one a while ago, Davidson Electronics i think he was called from Montrose in Scotland. Try him, all you do is e.mail your serial number with radio model e.t.c. and he'll e.mail your pass code back to you. If it works, then all you do is send him a payment for £9, this was three years ago bear in mind so price may have changed, if he's still in business that is.
All the best, Pastyman...............
