I switched to Halford?s lemon scented screen wash concentrate a few weeks ago. Largely because SWMBO did not like the smell of my usual cheapo stuff.
A welcome side effect is that the spray function of the nozzles has been mostly restored. They had reduced to single jets over the past few years.
The pack claims the stuff contains water softeners.
More expensive indeed, but not as dear as the VW stuff IIRC.

Thought this might have been of interest to Passat/Golf owners.

GWS: see my earlier thread
www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=27550&...e
regarding the non-use of VW's screenwash.
I've used Halford's double concentrate for some time now without problems with the front fan nozzles - key is the water softeners. As I can get through 5litres of screenwash in a week in winter, buying 3 for 2 when available makes a significant saving...

Halfords have an offer on again!

Was in Sheffield Halfords and have bought the advanced formula stuff in a 5l container. Cheaper than the double concentrate and still has the water softeners. No special offer though.
Surprised the water softener actually make does a difference around here as furring up of pipes/kettles has never been an issue.
