got a mitsubish carisma 1.8 gdi,y reg, change and flush oil every 6000miles but after about 2000miles the oil looks dirty again,it has had a decoke.any body got any ideas.

Don't worry, it is perfectly normal for the oil to go black, especially on diesels.
|
It's a petrol, not a diesel.

GDI = Gasoline Direct Injection, I think it's quite normal for oil to start looking black at about 2000 miles in a petrol powered car. My diesel looks black after 2 miles!

|
The car is petrol the gdi stands for Gasoline Direct Injection

Ooops, also on petrols.

Thought decokes were a dead and buried procedure, and not needed on anything built after 1960?
I'm also not sure if you really need to use flushing oil either, as good quality modern oils do a good job of keeping you engine clean, hence the reason your oil is black.
If I were you, just keep changing the oil every 6000 and don't worry.

One of the joys of direct injection petrol engines seems to be that they 'coke up'. Hence they need decoking - the modern way is in-situ with crushed walnut shell blasting.

Is 6000 miles the normal interval? I change the oil in my (admittedly twin turbo)Mitsubishi VR-4 every 6000Km (4000 miles).
Yes, it's black by then and the hydraulic tappets are sometimes more noisy too.
|
I'd stick to 4k miles on a VR-4. Nice car!
