Hi all, I'm scrapping my rover 111i (n reg) and I've been given a metro (casino royale m reg). I was just wandering if any bits will fit from the 111i onto the metro. I'm guessing not, but if anything would fit I would remove it before the car goes to the scrap yard. The 111i had a new middle and back box 8 months ago, and new plugs and leads at the end of November.
Thanks

I reckon a lot will fit, the engine will be virtually the same, also gearbox, suspension, doors, hatch, even the bonnnet might fit despite the 111's grill. Likewise wheels therfore tyres, probably brake discs, drive shafts etc etc. Keep waht you can.

Thanks for that. I have room to keep the car in my garden, so may be best to keep it and strip it when I get the other car and then get whats left towed away. How do I go about dvla? the tax runs out end Feb (on 111i) I can do a sorn, but then what do I do with the document when it gets collected? sorry but I really don't know anything about this and don't want to get in trouble with dvla.
Many thanks
Julie

There is a section on the V5 log book to fill in and send off yourself when you scrap it. Don't entrust it to the scrap company as they probably won't bother, as I found out a few years ago.

Thanks, so should I do a sorn for now and then when it gets taken away tick the box for scrapping it myself? Is it ok to tick the box for scrapping it myself if a scrapyard takes it away in a few weeks time?

You may feel its not worth SORN-ing it if its going to be taken away a week or two after the tax runs out. Legally I'm sure it must be declared SORN as soon as the tax runs out. It doesnt cost anything to SORN it so you might as well do so; it might end up staying in you garden longer than you first intended.

You have to fill in Section 9 of the V5C log book, and you and the motor trader (scrapyard man) both have to sign it. Then you have to post Section 9 to the DVLA yourself, and give the rest of the V5C document to the motor trader.
It is your responsibility to post the Section 9 to notify the DVLA. Until they are notified, you remain liable for the vehicle. The info. about this is on the back of the V5C.

Thanks Rich, got the form today to send off the tax disc and it has a box to tick for sorn. I'm not worried how long it sits in the garden for, as I want to get what I can off it. I know what you mean now on the v5c form.
Thanks again

Also make sure the ecu and alarm/immobiliser are kept together,as they speak to each other when unlocking car, otherwise ecu will need reprograming if replaced on its own..Am thinking of 200 series but think that car has same setup(anyone correct if wrong)?
