I have a Fiat Punto S, 1999 (X reg). I have experienced difficulties with it as the car overheats minutes after igniting it in this cold chill. The radiator water level requires to be topped up almost everyday with at least half to one litre of water. As the water tank is transparent I noticed that the water is bubbling. The internal heater is not supplying warm/hot air, but only cold air constantly.
I need to get this problem diagnosed ASAP and need to be advised on what the causes could be as the cowboys are out there to rip me off.

Maybe the pilot light has blown out?
These small Fiat engines seem to get blown head gaskets easily, and when you see the gasket it's not surprising as they look to be of poor quality. I imagine there is a breach from the combustion chamber to the coolant waterway, only needs to be the size of a pinprick to cause problems. Not that hard a DIY job if you have a haynes manual and a spare day with plenty of time and half decent tools, and do the timing belt at the same time.

Sounds like the head gasket.
