Had quote of £90 from Mazda MD, this really does sound massively high. Or is it????
I used to pay £35 at Rapid Fit on my Mondeo, what's everyone else paying?
Cheers.

Good quality oil and an hour's labour? Seems about right, depending on where the dealers is, IMHO

Thats expensive,as my Mazda's first service last year was only £110.There again,an oil change is really all they do on a first service.Which model do you have.If its a mazda 6,you can do it on your drive at home.very easy.I do mine on the 6000 mile marks.

Yes its a 6, but don't they have a fiddly cartridge type filter? And we don't really have the space for jacking the car up....its only a few months old!

Mann Oil Filter: £3.75
Sump Washer: £0.23
3.5l Castrol GTX Magnatec 10w/40 £12.60
30 minutes labour @ about £24 p/h £12.00
TOTAL: £ 28.58 + VAT (£ 33.58) or thereabouts
I've worked this out from past service receipts, as i've never actually had just an oil and filter change.

£65 for a petrol Citroen C3 just before Christmas at main dealer. No stamp in the book, as it's "only an oil change".
|
Mazda Dealer prices - Sump washer (assuming they don't suck it out) - £1
Oil filter £8
Oil - whatever they can get away with - say £30
Half hour to do it (generous!) - £40
So total should be about £80.

Do it yourself, it's very easy and much cheaper. Then go to a restaurant with your better half with the money saved...

Take the Mk3 Mondeo every 6k to National Tyre - costs £20 and only takes 15 mins. I phone up a few hours before so they can get the cartridge filter from their supplier. Saves getting my hands dirty and cheaper!

For a Ford Fiesta interim oil change. 15 pounds 5w30 Texaco Havoline (Asda), 5 pounds Genuine FoMoCo oil filter from ford, and 24 pounds labour from a local garage/ford specialist. Total = 44 pounds and all to ford specs.

£180 for an oil service for a BMW 330D. Of course I don't actually take my car to a main dealer for an oil change, I only asked out of curiosity.
