When was it last serviced, and what items were changed when it was serviced?

serviced about 6 months ago don't know what weas changed but difficult to start even using jump leads but bump starts fairly easily

If bump starts fairly easy, but not by using the starter motor, then that would indicate an electrical problem somewhere.
Not sure if the feed to the coil has a ballast wire going to it or not, but if you've got a multimeter and the low voltage connections to the coil are accessable, you could check the voltage with just the ignition turned on (should be somewhere between 6 to 8 volts, IIRC) and then get someone to crank the engine to see if the voltage to the coil increases or not.

sounds like engine down on puff

Battery puff that is,during cranking all power is sent to starter ie highest current draw.as on bump start coil is fed so it starts,
