Where are all these cars? I've not seen one in the UK. Back in France I've seen quite a few but no as many as I thought.

There's one that lives a couple of roads away from me in Warwick and there are a few around RLBS, we do have lots of Peugeot dealerships 'round here. They are a bit expensive though.

RLBS? Are you refering to that idylic place in Warwickshire?

Correct!

Seen quite a few round Stockport. All driven by shall we say older drivers. Those doors do make it easier on the arthritic I suppose.

Seems obvious to me:

- the Peugeot 1007 is as ugly as sin, well-overweight thanks to those gimmick doors, and overpriced;

- the Modus is no beauty either, although having rented one the car actually really impressed me. It's still at least a grand overpriced alongside Pandas, Picantos,...etc. though;

- Panda has been a hit in many European countries; I don't think the factory has the capacity to crank out many RHD-versions for the UK. And the outgoing Punto isn't much pricier from a supermarket?

Tried a demo one. The first one had a flat battery after demoing how the doors open. I suspect that would be a major problem in winter:-) Manual opening is a pain and rather heavy.

Never drove one: one look convinced me!

As is typical in this situation I'd not seen many up until this weekend then I saw three withing half a day!

Hardly see them in France, either, which must be unusual.
I suspect it's because they look like a slightly bigger version of those cement mixer-powered microcars driven legally by people without driving licences that are such a pain over here.
And the price.

Seen quite a few Modi on the roads, not one 1007 though.

- I live in France, and have seen no 1007s. Not many new 107s for that matter either. Everyone seems to buy the 206: Peugeot recently announced that they have built and sold 5.3 million of them worldwide apparently - their biggest seller ever.

Someone appears to have abandoned a 1007 courtesy car from the local dealer in our office car park. It doesn't belong to any of the staff and has been overnighting there since Friday.

Strange - actually saw one today, looked like a Smart at first glance.

I've only seen one 1007 and that was at an open day at the plant at Ryton and i was not vastly impressed - not enough space for a mini MPV and not small enough for a little city runaround. I don't think the price tag helps it much either.

One 1007 near me (East Midlands) - main dealer's courtesy car!

OK I've thought it since the start of this thread - The prospect of being trapped in one following a door faliure scares me....
Pug 1007 - Nickdm
- Yeah, we all know the reputation of French car electrics...

If I were Peugeot I'd develop a stripped-down commercial version with manual doors and flog 'em to the Post Office. It'd bring the Postman Pat image up-to-date!

To me it seems like a very over-engineered car searching for a problem to answer...yes there is some problem of parking in car parks very close but people do manage...and everyone knows instinctively how to use a normal door - I don't believe there is a need to create a more complex solution.

Certainly seeing a 1007 up close it seems to have alot of heavy framing around those doors...almost as if it is double glazed or something.

I remember being asked to do some feedback before it was launched and they were very much thinking that they could get away with £12K plus pricing for a supermini. Frankly when questioned I said it should cost about 9K.

As far as I can tell there is not really a market at the moment for a premium supermini although perhaps the JAzz is maintaining hgiher pricing than some - I don't really count the Mini as that given its size weight and engine size and the fact it is a one off.

I think also as Rover found there is a limit to how much you can position yourself as being alot more expensive than the opposition without people starting to think that each of your models is one size too small compared to the opposition. At the £12K plus mark people are thinking of Golfs, Scenics etc and not small cars...

The road tests I've see say it's much too heavy for a rather puny little engine. It might have a greater following if it were any fun to drive.

I think it has a hint of disability motoring to it, no disrespect but why have a car with electric sliding doors if you are fit and able?
The Panda is a cracking small car, I have one and it drives far better than the recently replaced Punto. The doors are that small that it is no problem getting in and out in car parks eliminating the solution suggested by the 1007. Fiat should market it more actively but perhaps there is less of a market in the UK for city cars when Superminis are not that greater in price. Not sure how long the KA can continue in it's tenth year in that sector.
I suppose the 1007 will quietly slip away out of production to join the Vel Satis et al as collectors items for the future.
