Golf V -coolant temperature gauge - ajap
I have the Golf MKV, 2.0TDI and I went to a VW garage to reset the interval alarm, as it has popped in the trip computer to early (15000Km).
Coincidently or not and after visiting the VW garage my temperature gauge does not work any longer, is dead! No reading at all. Additionally, I noticed that the engine when starts is rotating at higher RPMs that it used (+- 1100RPM, previously 900 RPM). Can this be any how related?

How can I realise what is faulty, the coolant temperature sensor? The gauge?
I heard that the sensor on MK IV has some faulty connection and gets easily loose. I would like to check this on my car as well. Anyone knows where is this sensor placed, colour, size, etc?

At the VW garage they said (after looking to the car for 2 minutues, without pluging the service tool in) that they need to take the dashboard out and place in a new panel (that they think is faulty?)?
