Morning all. Sorry to bother you on such a mundane one, but my knowledege of this stuff is now a bit dated. Used to be the case of using VW's stuff, as recc by HJ, but now seems to be unobtainable. What's the best one shot stuff around at the mo? Yes, I now, use proper fuel & you won't have any issues, but my dad lives just next door to Sainsbury's...
Actually for my (carbed) bike i use a silkolene additive after each winter, just to be sure. Positive I've a bit left in the garage. How about this?
BTW how can I find old threads I've subscribed to? Otherwise it'll be 406 HDI 136 performance improving Q's all over again!!
Thank you all.

When I last looked at the contents of a bottle of Redex injector cleaner, it said it contained kerosene. Someone here said it actually was 95% parafin, and 5% ATF, for colour and lubrication. Obvious conclusion? .....

VW main dealers Wayside in St Albans tell me that the VAG additive (G 001 700 03) is still available. I'll be buying some more shortly.
Roger, was the VAG additive still available when you went to replenish your stocks, and how much did it cost you, if you don't mind me asking?
When I was in the RAF and very short of funds I used to used aircraft hydraulic fluid as a 'Redex' substitute. It was red and smelt pretty much the same too
Yes - I think I do! Or was it OX 38?
That was before cats. I would not be doing that anymore. Redex changed there chemical base when cats came in to aviod damage when people choose to up the level they use. Regards Peter

OM 15 is the hydraulic oil, OX 38 is jet engine oil.

Was Charles {P} but someone c o p i e d my name with spaces.
Yes, you are correct and OX38 does a superb job as engine flushing oil

Roberson
Yup, restocked on 14 June with 10 bottles for a total of £55.10, including VAT.
Thanks Roger. I take it that the price per unit will be more like £8 when buying singularly, as I only want one (for now).
Just to add: Went to my VW garage and ordered some, so yes, still available.
£6.13 per bottle including VAT
