My alternator light come on faintly now and then at certain revs, can it fail the MOT for this? It's been doing this for nealy a year and I've never had a flat battery yet so must still charging enough.
Had a look on www.motuk.co.uk but no luck.

thanks guys, fingers crossed for everything else then...

Have had this before on a sierra.
Cause was a poor earth on one the headlights (current was returning via the warning light instead).
Repairing the connector solved the problem.

Most likely lost a phase due to a bad diode. Replacing diode pack should cure it.

I've had it caused by a bad connection on the back of the alternator.

Or in fact worn brushes....
