Mondeo fan heater - the cost! - BigAl
I asked about the failing fan heater on my '97 2.0 Mondeo a couple of weeks ago - and the backroom boys were absolutely correct. What was a mystery ,though, was the intermittent nature of the fault.
The Ford main dealer in Bury St Edmunds put in replacement resistors etc. The cost was£9.82 for parts and £49.50 for labour. Total (inc VAT) was £69.70. I proposed Fords reported 'good-will gestures' but was told 'not on a 68,000 miler over 4 years old'.
As the old saying goes 'smile and pay up!'
This is referred to on HJ's car by car breakdown - so, when considering a used Mondeo, it's well worth checking the heater fan speed switch - something easily overlooked.
