The Miller Cycle - Dude - {P}

I see the forthcoming replacement for the Suburu Imprezza uses the Miller cycle technology, which increases efficiency by 10 to 15%.

If it is that effective, it seems strange that since this development has been around since the late 1940`s, why other manufacturers have not adopted this technology.

Possibly as it is targeted at vehicles normally using a 3L and larger engine and needing forced injection.

They've been using it for years on huge marine engines - AKAIK it's mainly valve timing??

Steve-o, Thanks for that excellent link, with fuel prices looking set at their current high levels, maybe other manufacturers wiil seek to exploit this 10 to 15% gain in fuel efficiency.

A Miller cycle engine is very little different in concept from conventional engines, certainly supercharged engines. In fact a turbocharged engine with VVT is further from the Otto cycle engine concept than a Miller cycle engine is.
