What the best car shampoo on the market?
Everytime I wash my car its left with loads of marks/smugges. I seen on TV once a car shampoo that after you washed your car left some sort of 'magic' shine to it.When water was poured on it just ran off leaving it as new. Is there a product out there that really is this good or is it old tripe?

I use Halfords Advanced Car Wash and just hose it off afterwards-no problems.
We are not in a hard water area though.
Think you are talking about a Flash product you fix to a garden hose.

I wasna fu but just had plenty.

It wasnt that one.
This one was on one of those shopping channels like qvc or something like that.
I remember thinking at the time 'if it was that good it would be on the shelves in the shops'. So I dont think it would be that good!?

It is not that good
Buy yourself Autoglym polish.
Wash the car regularly with Autoglym Shampoo - magic
Buy the Autoglym glass cleaner to finish it - again magic

Agree Autoglym shampoo but you need to polish once a year as well so the paint has at least some polish on it.

A while back a car magazine did a test on car shampoos. I think it was Auto Express. One of the recommended ones was Halfords Advanced...as already mentioned earlier. I use this one too (in a hard water area). It is good, but you must leather droplets off the more horizontal surfaces.
Which? magazine did a test on the Flash gizmo...it wasn't rubbish, but it was a waste of money

As with their wax & other products www.meguiars.co.uk the Gold Class wash is expensive, but excellent value, 'cos you don't need much in the bucket. Make sure you rinse it off, with a stream of water, rather than spray, to get full benefit.

There was such a product that was used for polishing a car and I used to use it, but can't remember its name (QuickWax or something like that); got it cheap at a discount store as it never used to sell all that well and the firm bought up the remaining stocks...:-)
Once it had been applied you ran a hose or a watering can over it to "activate" its properties.
There was another similar product from Add-It called Roll Off, which was a "liquid wash leather". After you had shampooed and washed your car, you sprayed Roll Off onto the bodywork and the water literally rolled off the surface.
My daughter used to love it (still got half-a-bottle left).

Claybar your car, polish with carnuba wax, seal with polymer sealant..you will find the water runs off a treat.

Totally agree about Autoglym products the results are superb. I have tried many brands over the years and in all honesty have not been very happy. I find Autogym shampoo, resin polish and extra gloss protection to be outstanding.
|
I use various Autoglym products and have been very pleased with them. However, for shampoo it has to be Carplan Triplewax shampoo (the white one) which has been around for years.
My problem with a lot of these shampoos is that you don't get any suds which IMO makes washing the car more hard work. The only other shampoo I have been happy with is Halfords Advanced, which has already been mentioned.

I too use Autoglym products but I don't see the point of shampoo. Just water and a sponge does it for me.

Have you tried Autoglym shampoo on top of their polish and extra gloss? You barely need a sponge!

I use Zymol shampoo, quite expensive but you don't use much even in hard water area. It is supposedly quite environmentally friendy and smells of coconuts.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like alot of people use Autoglym products which I'll try. I'll also try other mention products. See what works the best for me.
Many thanks,

I'm still using the stuff I bought from Asda quite some time ago.

And yes, I'm still on that same 5 litre container of the stuff. Last I recall, there's still approx a litre of it left.
