The centre dashboard display (LED?) on our Renault Clio has dimmed - the digits (time, temperature, radio station etc) can still be seen but the display is not lit and as fully visible as before.
The vehicle is not fitted with a dashboard dimmer switch.
Is there an LED or bulb I can replace?
What else could have caused this effect?
Any advice or assistance would be appreciated.

Clio displays can be erratic. 18 months ago during a cold spell, the gauges and displays on wife's Clio blanked out or dropped to zero for a few secs. after starting engine - running didn't seem to be affected. Dealer said it 'could have several causes - wait and see what happens'. Hasn't happened since.

Hi
I wonder if some external lights are on or the car thinks they are. Even if there is no dimmer, the display will dim once the sidelights/headlamps are switched on. I have no idea what they would default to if the lights on signal was broken.
Try giving it a thump. The old tv repair man method. My Laguna has the whole display crashing/no input from satellite radio controls sometimes until I punch it. It seems very receptive to violence.
