Ford CD 6000 code input problem - dickie
Bought a CD6000 CD player off EBAY to replace tape player in our transit. Swapped over no problem, but can't input the code as described in the manual.

Display is showing 'CODE' and the other part where the digits(.. .. .. ..) should show after pressing the numeric button on the front is flashing. No locked message on display.

Any idea's, seems like the buttons on the front aren't working. Should the unit be left on for a period of time?

If your code was 3452 then it would be tempting to press those buttons but you would in fact press 1 three times, then the 2 button 4 times, then the 3 button 5 times etc.. Then the 5 or the 6 button to enter the code. I can't remember but I think it's button 5.

It won't be time locked. If it were, it would say.

Hi, yes I'm familiar with how to input the codes using your description, but it won't enter any codes using the 1,2,3,4 buttons. You are correct to set the code using the 5 button.

But the problem is inputing any code, the 1,2,3,4 buttons don't seem to be functioning to input the code.

Oh sorry.

On mine, you have to press the buttons quite forcefully. Are the contacts clean? Could you swap the buttons with another Ford unit to check them? (They're all interchangeable).

I thought something was wrong. It sounded like I knew what I was on about ;-)

Adam,
Good Idea I'll check tomorrow, if there's anyone out with any other clues or similar experiences let me know.

It's baffeling me as the radio comes up with what it should do but I can't input the code. Time for a strong thumb!!!!!!!!

Are you sure you have not bought a duff,as they dont need any great pressure on buttons to work.they are micro switch`s only the lightest of press is needed ie short and sweet,as the unit wont work as per manual would suggest a problem with unit. Not what you are doing

Steve's right. Whilst I have to press mine hard, it's not because the buttons themselves are dodgy - it's because the "stick" doesn't form a great connection on the radio.

However, that being said, if the buttons lost contact, the radio would stop working. Full stop.

I'd still try some new buttons though. I have no idea how much you paid for it but I'm betting not that much so if it turns out just to be the buttons, it's still a good deal. At the end of the day, it's still lighting up so all may not be lost.
