What new Car ?!! - IanW1977
Currently driving around in a 306 S16 but due to a new family member I'm thinking seriously of changing.
Budget is £2k and want something reliable, economic (Compared to 22mpg from the pug)and 4 doors.
Needs to be slightly bigger than the 306 but due to drive size not any bigger than a Vectra.
All I want really is decent perfomance and air con.
Just for idea's I have been looking at the Toyota Avensis and the Mitsubishi Charisma.

Thanks

You may be able to find some of the last Mk1 Seat toledos, which were based on the VW Jetta. They had a huge boot, a decent amount of space and good diesel engines.

Having said that, there's always a Mondeo!

Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?

Maybe a late model (will have air-con etc)Rover 600? Honda mechanicals, size-wise it fits your bill and within budget.

I do like the Seat's - With the Rover though, Is Rust a problem ?? You don't seem to see many 600's left nowadays. Are these basically the same as the Honda Accord ??
What new Car ?!! - Xileno {P}
Yes it's an Accord. All Honda engineering except the diesel (tough engine but a bit noisy) and the petrol 2.0 Turbo. The latter is best avoided, most have been thrashed to death.
600's can rust on the rear arches. Otherwise a good budget buy.

Hmm Owned a Rover before, Good MPG But Dull and bland and horrible interior.
Don't think I could go back to Rover ownership.

Saw a Mitsubishi Galant this evening which looks pretty striking.

If you want something reliable, get one of the last model Honda Accord (1999-2003).
