Cheap cross-channel fares - colinh
There was a recent thread regarding the viability of having cars serviced in France - obviously the fare cost would have to be factored-in.
I'm doing the trip in reverse, and checking prices note that Eurotunnel do a short stay/overnight return fare of £30 (42 euros).
Are there any better deals readily available, without travelling at unsociable hours?

Just been researching fares for a 5 day trip to Frankfurt leaving tomorrow.

Cheapest option (forgetting speedferries) was £120. I checked the ferry companies websites then also used www.ferrybooker.com to compare. Slightly more anti social times could have brought this somewhere around £90.

So I reckon your £30 hop is a good deal.

I couldn't get that price in either direction for the crossings I wanted - Sundat 10ish and Wed 19:00 ish. I think they are for less social times.

I paid £38.00 for a standard return from Speedferries a couple of months ago for September booked direct from their site.

I paid £19 earlier in the year from www.driveline.co.uk - don't know if they are still doing it (I seem to recall it ended in June)
