You made me think, I have just done a DVLA enquiry and they still have it as 1998cc, although it has current RFL.
I had a '93 Cavalier K995TBJ, likely supplied by the same dealer, "TB" being the area marker, mine was a 1.7 TD, a lot slower, took nearly 12 seconds to do the qtr mile ..... or was that 0-60 ....

Anorak zipped up....
Actually the area identifier is the last two letters so (as you're Somerset / Bristol based) local examples would be AYA, YA representing Taunton and AAE, AE representing Bristol.
BJ is an identifier for Ipswich, whereas BC is an identifier for Leicester.

You are right of course, it it is the new, 2001 on, system that uses the first to letters as the area identifier.

"they still have it as 1998cc"
So that's a tick in the 'modified' box then.. (and hope they think 11500cc is a typo!)
I can remember when methanol-powered dragsters in this country were taking 7 or 8 seconds for a standing quarter (and I saw The Commuter do the first 200mph run at Santa Pod), so 8.14s for a street-legal vehicle should stand for some time...
