Does anyone have any experience of Tunit diesel tuning devices? I saw an ad in Autocar and followed up the web site link: www.tunit.co.uk They claim their devices boost diesel power significantly. But all the press testimonials appear to be their own advertisements in Diesel magazine. I run a Passat V6 TDi which I'd like to see with a bit more grunt, but an hesitant about parting with £400 without some independent advice.

Where are you based? I know of a specialised diesel tuning company who supply both tunit and powerchips that are having an openday within the next couple of weeks if you would like to chat to someone about the products before purchasing.
The company is based in Derbyshire.

Had a Bromley's 'tuning box' fitted to a Vectra DI a few years back and at first was quite impressed, but the 'extra' go was all at once and the car tended to jolt/surge forward suddenly with the acceleration not being smooth and linear as it was without the box. It also produced some amazing smoke, which before it never did! Get it chipped properly, they are far better than any add on box and the chip can be reprogrammed to suit the actual car.
I notice they're using my 'testimonial' on their web page, true at the time shortly after buying it, but I soon got tired of the box (and smoke screen!) and removed it soon after. I enquired to see if they would buy it back off me and didn't hear a thing.....
