106 Diesel had just been on a run, went to restart it and nothing happens when I turn the key apart from a ticking type of noise from the control unit near the radiator header tank. Engine doesn't turn over and lights on dash are very faint.
Would a failed control unit explain this?
I thought it would just stop the glowplugs working not stop the engine turning over completely?
Thanks for your help.

Sounds like flat battery. Check the auxiliary dive belt has not broken

Thanks for reply but battery seems fine.
Any other ideas?

This sounds like a bad earth or other major electrical contact. It sounds like the glow plug relay can't get enough power to pull in cleanly. The dim dash lights and lack of starter motor action also sounds like the same thing.
The battery may be ok(how did you test it?) but a bad battery/earth connection will give the same symptoms

Lights v dim, no starter motor = dead battery or bad earth.
