Access to the headlamp bulb holder on the passenger side of my Focus is not as straight forward as I expected (Due to battery shelf etc). Whats the easiest way to get to it, and how long will it take ?

If it's a similar set-up to my Mondeo removing the headlamp unit makes the job so much easier. Only takes a couple of minutes, you'll need a Torx screwdriver, though.

The only way I could replace the bulbs on my Focus was to fully remove the battery and battery tray.
Seeing as how I'm now on my third set of bulds, Ive got it down to about 10 minutes to remove, fit bulb and replace. The first time took about 20 mins though.
Just make sure you have your radio code handy.

I thought these cars had face off radios which didn't need a code? But good advice none the less since people do forget about the radio code :P

Im not plain stupid, just a special kind of stoopid.

They have a removable section of the facia, but the back main unit is still coded.

I tried to change the bulbs on my Focus recently but gave up after my hands were too sore. Taking the battery out sounds like a good idea but I suppose if you had a torx screwdriver, taking the headlamps out would be just as good.
If you do disconnect the batter, as AR-CoolC says, you will need the radio code. Trust me!

Yes removing the battery is the best way for the nearside.
For the offside it is very easy to undo the header tank and lift it out of the way.

There is one Ford model - might be a Focus, but I can't be sure, where the front bulbs are accessed by removing a small flap which is part of the wheel arch liner. Even then it's a bit of a fiddle, but quicker than removing headlamps, batteries etc.
