Hi gang - just bought one of those super duper microfibre cloths tjust to give it a try. Super! Great at removing all sorts of marks from hard surfaces and terrific on the car. Removed my sons' sticky finger marks from the windows and the 'film' which always seems to coat the inside of the windscreen and removing smears etc. from the dashboard etc. Haven't tried it on the exterior as I haven't washed it for a while but I'm sure it's going to be great - we suffer from hard water and unless the car is properly dried after washing any remaining droplets leave an annoying limescale residue. The best thing is it'll remove grease, oil etc. and there's no need for chemicals etc. Cheap as chips at Aldi too.
So far, thoroughly recommended then.

i use microfibre cloths for every part of the car(waffle weaves for drying)they are the bees knees!!they wont remove dried on water marks thow!!!speed they dry your paintwork you shouldnt get to find out unless you do the car in the sun.i can dry my car in about 5 mins with my waffle weaves so had a race against the sun, no prize for guessing the winner.still hard work removing baked on water marks whatever your using!!!

I use a large silicon 'blade' to dry off the car. It takes a bit of getting used to but is very good on the larger, flatter surfaces. I didn't think the microfibre would easily remove any water marks but it seems to dry surfaces so much more efficiently than any other cloth I've used I was really just hoping it'd stop them forming in the first place, especially in those areas I can't get to with the 'blade'.
The way microfibre lifts off grease etc. is just amazing. We have a large stainelss steel oven and it cleans the surface very well indeed leaving no smears whatsoever. I wonder if professional car valeters are using them yet.

Yeah, they're great. I get my ones at the cheap shops (including Aldi) for about a pount or two each. I use 3 to dry my car and I find it's quite quick and easy.
|
Where else can you get these things? Any brand names? Nearest Aldi is 30 miles away.
|
IIRC Woolworth & Wilkinsons do them too and I'm certain many of the large supermarkets do so although they're bound to be more expensive than the likes of Aldi.

Funnily enough,i bought one(made by Vileda)on monday from my local ironmongers.Just given the interior of the mazda the once over. Its brill.

Couldn't agree more volvoman. I bought a one of these a few weeks back and thought it was great. I was also about to start a thread like this, when I had time (v. busy with uni exams) but looks like you beat me to it.
Its best at removing that window grime that you get on the inside. No matter what car orientated glass cleaners I used (including good old fashioned newspaper), nowt could shift it. But that Microfibre cloth can.
You can get them in Wilkinsons for about £2.00 or nettos for nearer £1.

The ones mentioned so far are MUCH cheaper then in www.meguiars.co.uk which I've got.
Although I'm impressed with the cleaning/polishing ability, I much prefer a larger cloth to fold up as I use it.

Just for information, the Aldi microfibre cloth is about 12" square and costs the princely sum of 89p.

You get 3 for a £1 at Poundland.......

Thanks - just been to Poundland to secure some. I note they're hankerechief size - should be perfect when I get my next cold!
|
Hmmm... just bought two at £1 each in Poundland. They're 35x35 cm so maybe we're not comparing like with like.
|
Started a craze here... Poundland sell 3 for £1 in soppy pastel colours under "Household", or £1 each with manly black cardboard label under "Car Care".
I'm not proud, I went for the soppy ones - looked the same otherwise.

99p in Wilkinsons (Walton-on-Thames)

A soft Terry type large towel takes some beating at removing excess water after washing a car it will soak up all the water without wringing out then a wipe over with a damp leather. SUPER QUICK.
|
The small fine textured ones are brilliant for cleaning spectacles and camera lenses too.

Well I've just discovered another use for these things in the car.
Recently I was transporting one of our bikes and dicovered that on loading/unloading it, several neat black tyre marks had been left on the fabric interior of the car's roof. Having had problems removing dirty marks on similar fabric in my last car I wasn't keen to use chemicals so tried to brush it off. This was singularly unsuccessful but at least didn't make matters worse. It was only an afterthought which led my to try the trusty microfibre cloth and bingo, with very little effort every trace of the tyre marks was removed with no need for cleaners and no visible residue or water marks. Great!
