Bonhams is about to offer an exclusive opportunity to acquire a single-owner collection of nine commemorative hand-built Aston Martin V8 models. The collection - privately commissioned in 1987 in order to celebrate the 21st anniversary of V8 production in 1990 - will be sold by Bonhams on 4 June at Aston Martin?s Works Service facility in Newport Pagnell.

Anyone got any spare change they can donate to me?

An absolute sin that such machines have not been driven.
I'd still have them though :D

Oh I want so much it hurts.

It says they're models, does that mean they're real?

Quite a history behind these cars.
I stand to be corrected (I have had a bottle of wine and this is from memory!), but I believe they were bought by a chap from Hong Kong for a massively inflated price (you have to remember that Zagatos were making half a million at the time compared to £60K to £100K now), then things went pear-shaped to use a Cantonese phrase and they were repossed and sold (I still have the auction catalogue somewhere).
Here is a picture from an Aston Martin press release from the time they were new.

The interesting thing at the auction will be if someone wants to get the collection and someone is desperate for one of the last two or three cars to go under the hammer. Could make for record prices.
As an aside, check out the achieved prices for automibilia from this auction as the prices bear little relation to reality as ultra rich people get involved in bidding wars.

I will settle for the auctioneers commission.
