Hi,
Got to fit a new radio/cd in a mk2 Rover 420 (old one broke), any suggestions for a good radio? and a place to buy. I have had a quick look on the net and I must say most of the radios on offer look so awful and chav like, the owner of the rover isn't going to like them. Also dose anyone know of ware you might get a Rover branded one? As I'm thinking there ones at least look ok and sound ok.
Many thanks,
James.

If you want a genuine Rover branded radio, look on E-Bay.

if you want a standard fit rover one i'd have a look in a scrap yard - should be able to find one in there. Unless you drop lucky you will need it de-coding as rover stereo's need you to enter a code number after the power has been disconnected to it.
The stereo will probably cost about a tenner and a de-code about the same. It should in theory just plug straight in.

A good radio for a Rover, sounds like a fair deal to me!
Sorry ....

Radio for a Rover?
At this point, probably Kiss FM :(

The Rover units for the MkII 400 (95-) were Philips units but were specific to the 400 as they used the display on the dash rather than having their own display and won't work without that connection. As mentioned above, a visit to your local scrappy is your best bet.
If you aren't bothered about the dash display then any old unit will do, however the standard fit units were pretty decent so I wouldn't bother with an upgrade myself.

You'll need small hands if you do fit a Rover unit..... the ribbon cable to the display is, well, less than generous in length and needs a bit of persuading to be fitted the rear of your replacement unit.
