Can any traders please let me know what in their opinion is the value of my Cat C. car as I can?t get it valued from
any guides.

Its a 1995 N Reg Corsa 1.5TDiesel 3Dr, 6 owners, 128K Met. silver 2 months MOT and 4 month Tax. Its a Cat C. and the damage was to the rear drivers side where there is now a 2nd hand bumper and light cluster and the body evidence of the accident is a slight bending in of the bottom wheel arch/paint cracked.

I don?t expect to get back what I've spent since purchase but I've put a New Radiator/fan switch, Glow Plugs and engine had its valve clearances done at main dealer.

Other Faults are rusted/leaking Sump. Hole in top of Fuel Tank that leaks when car is full to the brim. Gearbox notchy and Cold start is slow. 2 rust patches(2cm wide) - 1 on the tip of bonnet and the other on the rear tailgate and 5cm parking dent on drivers side lower door panel.

Right I think I covered everything there, I paid £800 for it 1 year ago in a rush, I know a very stupid/costly mistake! But I would appreciate your expert opinion on its value please?

Also What?s the best way of selling it? Auction? At least I won?t have any comeback then?

Many Thanks
Barry

With it being faulty, not in great condition and also Cat C listed I would have thought the answer is 'not much'.

£100?

you would be best selling it on ebay.
tell the truth, and it wont come around and bite you in the 455 !

i would expect a sale of £100, maybe £200 on ebay.
but that fuel tank is dangerous dude. get that spilt on roads and motorbikes are in serious danger. did you watch airport the other night, spilt diesel, and a rav4 went thru 9 bollards and rolled at (i think) gatwick airport roundabout. (or birmingham?)

get shot on ebay and tell the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!

all IMHO of course.

Christ!!! I never new it was that bad! I expected 400squid.

Do you think my best chance of recouping the money is to sell with reserve at auction? Hopefully some fool will pay for a Diesel thinking its a bargain? (like me last year!)

Am I right that there is pretty much no comeback at Auction? only 1 hour of the auction or somthing? what does that auction warranty cover?

I know it sounds like I'm a **** to do it but Im a Student & Cash dont grow on trees and Ive spent £400 on it since buying it!

Damn :-(

It might be worth finding out if there is any demand for the major parts. You might make a lot more by breaking it.

I know there was demand for engines and alternators, both being very expensive to replace, but I'm not sure if that is still the case.

No. No point putting a reserve on it, it wont reach it and you have wasted your day, and it might go for less than 75 quid.

As said - ebay is best and it may go at any price

Thanks. I have a few options then-
I can make more than £100 by breaking it.
Or Get an MOT on it and sell at auction.(cost maybe £150-200)
Or patch up fuel tank and put new sump and sell it.(£100)

I think that saying Cat C. no-one will touch it with a barge pole so private sale is pointless.

How much do you think its worth if I sort the Tank and sump?

Or if I just MOT it?

A long MOT is worth at least a ton, so if its 100 quid without, a years ticket makes it worth at least 200.
