For a 2001 1.4 vvti model (last of old shape) does anyone have a diagram of what has to be removed to check the box level? Also what top up oil should be used?
Also I cannot see an adjuster for the alternator drive belt. How is the belt tensioned please?
Thanks.

It takes 75W-90 GL-4 gear oil. Level filler plug is half-way up on the side of the gearbox. Just fill to the level hole until it trickles out.
These cars use a long serpentine belt. IIRC there is a tensioner pulley on the run between the crank pulley and the PAS pulley.

Thank you Aprila for your feedback. I have found the tensioner pulley and it is the fact that it has a plastic snap on cover over the star adjusting bolt. That is why I could not see it.
One further question? How do I actually tension the belt? Do I have to just keep tightning up the pulley bolt or should I put some tension in the belt first?
Once again thanks.
