Anyone have any cheap ideas on how I could get a non-running car from Hull to Worthing?
|
A friend (yeah right!) once got from Norwich to Birmingham by joining the AA

Yes, but you'd need an MOT, tax and insurance to do that.
Fine if our friend has just broken down, but a problem if he's bought a project car on ebay and needs to get it home.

Would be an arduous journey, but for £300 or so you could buy an A-frame and tow it (of couse, you need a car with a towbar too). Maybe you could even hire an A-frame somewhere.

Fill it with expanding foam, push it off the docks at hull and it will take about 5 months to migrate round the coast. YOu might have to collect it at chesil beach tho. (at the end with the bigger stones)

There's usually a few people flogging car transport services on ebay. Search for 'car transport'

On ebay there are a few trasporting services in the automotive section where you can ask for a quote on transportation.

Its not what you drive, its how you drive it! :-)

Hadn't thought of that. Did a search which came up with a couple of people and am awaiting replies. However, not too sure about someone "off the street" as such with my car... I'll have to give it a think.

I still feel bad about getting a just about running project car, that turned into a completely dead project car within 10 miles, back from York to Farnham courtesy of the Green Flag cover taken out as a precaution 2 days before.
It must have cost them a fortune and was definately a bet loaded in my favour.

.....so to answer your question get it running if poss even temporarily.
