LR Disco V8i 3500 Ignition Timing - Cyd
Can anyone in BackroomLand help:

I'm looking at a 93 V8i 3.5 litre LR Discovery for a friend and wish to check the ignition timing. I only have access to the data for 95MY 3.9 litre which says:
timing at 800rpm max (vac disconnected) 5 BTDC +/-1

Can anyone tell me if the 3.5 is the same or if not what should it be?

Cyd,

The info I have from an electronic Haynes data book suggests it's 6° (±1) BTDC @ 800 rpm, with the vacuum disconnected.

If you want the file (pdf format) I can fire it across.

land rover service book advise 6.btdc at 750rpm max with vac connected.

You sure about that Defender? shouldn't that be vac disconnected?

in the lr handbook under lub and general data it says 6 btdc with vac pipe connected using min 90 octane fuel,this handbook printed in 1994
