scopio 2.5td comments? - PeterE
I am going to have a look at a 95 scorpio 2.5 td ultima tomorrow, not the vm engine i dont think. Any coments or suestions on what to look for? What mpg could i expect? Anyone had one ? What was it like Thanks!

I think you'll find this is the VM engine. Just make sure it isn't a former taxi.

I had an "M" registered Rover 825 with the VM engine and it was a very good car indeed, the engine went to over 120 000 miles with no bother whatsoever, the Rover had a couple of minor electrical glitches but nothing serious.

I would make sure of two things: The car has never been a Taxi and that it has no towing equipment or evidence of having been used for towing.

Scorpio 2.5td comments? - David Lacey
We have an 825 Diesel which our workshops service with 190,000 miles recorded.
This engine is not going to set the world alight, but it is a very capable engine.
Some will tell of head gasket failure (individual gaskets for each cylinder) but I haven't seen anything yet.

Don't expect much more than 30MPGish from this olde-worlde IDI engine.
